Space Wedding – An Unusual Way to Say “I Do”

When it comes to planning a wedding, couples go above and beyond to make sure the day is perfect. Whether that means selecting the ideal venue, an exotic destination or the perfect theme, there is no end to the creativity that goes into creating the ultimate day of love. But one couple is taking their nuptials to the next level — literally.

A company called Space Perspective is allowing couples to say “I do” from orbit, putting them in the same place where Yuri Gagarin became the first human to enter space. But it won’t come cheap. The six-hour Spaceship Neptune flight will set passengers back $125,000 per person and feature a view of Earth that is truly out of this world.

According to the company, the Neptune is propelled by renewable hydrogen and doesn’t require rockets for launching, which eliminates the carbon footprint of traditional spaceflights. The spacecraft’s enormous windows — the biggest ever flown into space — offer the best possible view of our planet from up high.

Guests will sit in pods, which are designed to be both spacious and comfortable. They will have the opportunity to take photos and video of their journey, as well as participate in a variety of other activities. The Neptune is staffed with professional crew members from the Biosphere 2 research facility in Arizona, who are experts in closed ecological systems.

Couples interested in the ethereal experience can sign up for the waitlist on the Space Perspective website, but they will have to pass a four-day training program before their big day. The company expects to see interest from couples in China and the Middle East in particular, but it will only allow one couple per flight.

Space is the most unusual place for a wedding, but it is not the only out-of-this-world option. For a more traditional nuptials, the couple can celebrate on a private island in the Caribbean, at a castle in the mountains of Spain or in a cave in Thailand.

But if you’re not ready to tie the knot just yet, there are plenty of other amazing venues from which to choose. Consider the size of your guest list, your priorities for the day and your budget when deciding on the ideal location. And remember to consult a wedding planner for professional insights into the pros and cons of any space you have your heart set on!
